Our History
In February 1980 the Canneton family arrived in Hungerford without prior warning and the rest they say is history!
On the 14th February 1981 approximately 1,000 people witnessed the counter signing of the charter in Hungerford High Street.
In 1978 the Annual Parish meeting gave agreement for the Town Council to seek a French partner but the early attempts failed.
In November 1980 the Twinning Charter was signed in Ligueil.
Visits to Ligueil have been made by The Fire Service, Round Table, Rotary Club, John O’Gaunt School Pupils & Staff, Hungerford Town Band, Hungerford Juniors Football Club, Hungerford Rugby Club, Mayors & Constables, Members of the Twinning Association and residents of Hungerford and the surrounding areas.
