The Hungerford Twinning Association!
Fostering links across our communities since 1980 – 45 years
Hungerford is officially twinned with the town of Ligueil in Indre-et-Loire, France.
Our goal is to establish close family links between Hungerford and Ligueil, and to use this to foster and encourage a broader social community and educational opportunities for children through family and inter-school activities. We have a membership of over 40 people from the Hungerford area and arrange visits between the towns with our French counterparts each year.
During visits by the French families to Hungerford, we organise social and educational activities around sites of local interest and also further afield to give our guests opportunities to experience our British heritage.
Our Objectives
To make twinning relevant to today with the use of modern technology, including a website that links to other local websites and social media, with information about events and resources
To encourage renewed links between our schools and youth to develop the use of spoken French through regular French Conversation in a friendly social environment, available to all ages and abilities, with straightforward resources.
To widen the membership and age range of the organisation by fostering participation from as many individuals and local groups as possible
